Welcome to Grandha Vahak. This Membership Agreement ("Agreement") sets forth the terms and conditions governing your membership and use of the services offered through the Grandha Vahak Platform.
Grandha Vahak is a technology-enabled physical book borrowing platform that connects Members with a diverse collection of multilingual books through a convenient doorstep delivery and return service. Our mission is to promote a sustainable reading culture by making quality books more accessible to individuals, educational institutions, organizations, and communities across India.
This Agreement applies to all Membership Plans offered by Grandha Vahak, including Individual, Institutional, Organization (CSR), and Community memberships, unless otherwise specified in a separate written agreement.
By registering for a Membership, purchasing a subscription, accessing your Member account, requesting books, or using any of our Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by this Agreement, together with our Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, and any other policies published on the Grandha Vahak Platform, all of which form an integral part of this Agreement.
If you do not agree with any provision of this Agreement, you should not register for a Membership or use the Grandha Vahak Services.
Grandha Vahak reserves the right to amend or update this Agreement from time to time. Any changes will become effective upon publication on the official Grandha Vahak Platform, unless otherwise stated. Members are encouraged to review this Agreement periodically to remain informed of any updates.
Our goal is to provide every Member with a transparent, reliable, and enjoyable reading experience while fostering a responsible and collaborative reading ecosystem built on trust, respect, and a shared passion for books.
Membership with Grandha Vahak is available to eligible individuals, educational institutions, organizations, and communities in accordance with this Agreement and applicable laws.
Membership may be obtained by:
Grandha Vahak reserves the right to verify the eligibility of any applicant before approving a Membership.
Members are responsible for providing complete, accurate, and up-to-date information during registration and throughout the duration of their Membership.
Any changes to personal or organizational information, including name, address, email address, mobile number, or other relevant details, should be updated promptly through the Grandha Vahak Platform.
Grandha Vahak shall not be responsible for any loss, delay, or service disruption resulting from inaccurate or outdated information provided by the Member.
Unless otherwise expressly approved by Grandha Vahak, each individual Member may maintain only one active Membership account.
Institutional, Organization, and Community accounts shall be created and managed by their respective authorized representatives in accordance with the applicable Membership Plan.
Grandha Vahak reserves the right to suspend, merge, or terminate duplicate, fraudulent, or unauthorized accounts.
Members are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of their account credentials, including usernames, passwords, and any verification codes.
Members must promptly notify Grandha Vahak through the Support Center if they suspect unauthorized access, misuse, or compromise of their account.
Any activity performed through a Member's account shall be deemed to have been carried out by the registered Member unless otherwise established through Grandha Vahak's investigation.
Grandha Vahak shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from a Member's failure to maintain the security of their account credentials.
Grandha Vahak offers a range of Membership Plans designed to meet the diverse reading needs of individuals, educational institutions, organizations, and communities. Each Membership Plan specifies the applicable Subscription Fee, Refundable Caution Deposit, Book Borrowing Limit, Borrowing Period, and Membership Validity.
The details of all available Membership Plans are provided in Schedule A (Membership Plans), which forms an integral part of this Agreement. Grandha Vahak reserves the right to introduce, modify, discontinue, or replace Membership Plans, pricing, and benefits from time to time. Any such changes shall apply prospectively and shall not affect an active Membership unless otherwise communicated.
Each Membership requires payment of a Subscription Fee, which grants access to the benefits and services associated with the selected Membership Plan for its specified validity period.
The Subscription Fee is non-refundable once the Membership has been activated, except where otherwise required by applicable law or expressly approved by Grandha Vahak under its Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Certain Membership Plans require payment of a Refundable Caution Deposit as a security against outstanding obligations, including overdue charges, lost or damaged books, or any other lawful charges arising under this Agreement.
Upon cancellation of the Membership and completion of all obligations, the remaining balance of the Caution Deposit, after adjustment of any applicable deductions, shall be refunded in accordance with the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
The number of books that a Member may borrow simultaneously is determined by the selected Membership Plan. Members shall not exceed the borrowing limit specified in Schedule A, unless otherwise permitted by Grandha Vahak under a promotional offer or a separate written agreement.
Each Membership Plan includes a specified borrowing period for every book issued. Members are responsible for returning borrowed books on or before the applicable due date.
Where available, Grandha Vahak may allow Members to request an extension of the borrowing period, subject to book availability, operational policies, and approval by Grandha Vahak.
Membership remains valid for the duration specified under the selected Membership Plan, commencing from the Membership Activation Date.
Upon expiry of the Membership, access to Membership benefits shall cease unless the Membership is renewed or extended in accordance with Grandha Vahak's prevailing policies.
Note: The complete details of all Membership Plans, including applicable fees, refundable Caution Deposits, borrowing limits, borrowing periods, validity, and minimum membership requirements (where applicable), are set out in Schedule A – Membership Plans, which forms an integral part of this Agreement.
Members may borrow physical books through the Grandha Vahak Platform in accordance with their selected Membership Plan and the policies governing book circulation.
The maximum number of books that a Member may borrow at any one time shall be determined by the selected Membership Plan as specified in Schedule A – Membership Plans.
Members shall not exceed the borrowing limit unless otherwise permitted by Grandha Vahak under a promotional program or a separate written agreement.
Each borrowed book shall be issued for the borrowing period applicable to the Member's selected Membership Plan.
The borrowing period begins on the date the book is successfully delivered to the Member and ends on the applicable due date communicated through the Grandha Vahak Platform.
Members are responsible for ensuring that borrowed books are returned within the prescribed borrowing period.
Where available, Members may request an extension of the borrowing period through the Grandha Vahak Platform before the applicable due date.
Extensions are subject to book availability, operational requirements, and Grandha Vahak's approval. Approval of an extension is not guaranteed.
Books that are not returned on or before the applicable due date may attract overdue charges or other actions in accordance with the applicable Membership Plan and Grandha Vahak's published policies.
Repeated late returns may result in temporary suspension of borrowing privileges or other appropriate action.
Members are responsible for exercising reasonable care while books are in their possession.
If a borrowed book is lost, stolen, misplaced, or returned in a damaged condition beyond normal wear and tear, the Member shall be responsible for the applicable replacement cost, repair charges, penalties, or other lawful charges as determined by Grandha Vahak.
Grandha Vahak may recover such amounts from the Member directly or adjust them against the refundable Caution Deposit, where applicable.
Grandha Vahak provides a reverse logistics service for the collection of borrowed books from the Member's registered address, subject to service availability and operational feasibility.
Members shall ensure that books are securely packed and made available for collection on the scheduled pickup date.
Failure to make the books available for pickup or repeated unsuccessful collection attempts may result in delays, additional charges, or other actions in accordance with Grandha Vahak's policies.
Members remain responsible for the borrowed books until they are successfully collected by Grandha Vahak or its authorized logistics partner.
Detailed operational procedures relating to book borrowing, extensions, returns, overdue charges, reverse logistics, and replacement of lost or damaged books are governed by the Grandha Vahak Book Borrowing Policy, which forms an integral part of this Agreement.
Members are required to pay the applicable Subscription Fee and Refundable Caution Deposit (where applicable) for the selected Membership Plan before Membership activation.
All fees payable under this Agreement shall be clearly displayed on the Grandha Vahak Platform prior to payment. Grandha Vahak is committed to transparent pricing and does not impose any hidden fees or undisclosed charges.
The Subscription Fee provides access to the benefits and services associated with the selected Membership Plan for its specified validity period.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law or expressly approved by Grandha Vahak, the Subscription Fee is non-refundable once the Membership has been activated.
Certain Membership Plans require payment of a Refundable Caution Deposit, which serves as a security deposit against outstanding obligations arising under this Agreement.
Upon cancellation of the Membership, the remaining balance of the Caution Deposit, after adjustment of any applicable overdue charges, penalties, replacement costs, damages, or other lawful deductions, shall be refunded in accordance with the Grandha Vahak Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Grandha Vahak accepts payments through secure and authorized payment channels, including:
Grandha Vahak does not store Members' debit card, credit card, UPI PIN, net banking credentials, or other sensitive payment credentials. Online payments are securely processed by authorized third-party payment service providers in accordance with their respective terms and security standards.
All applicable prices displayed on the Grandha Vahak Platform are inclusive or exclusive of Goods and Services Tax (GST), as clearly indicated at the time of purchase.
Where GST or any other applicable tax is required by law, it will be collected and reflected on the Member's invoice or payment receipt.
Grandha Vahak follows a policy of transparent pricing.
Unless expressly disclosed to the Member before payment, Grandha Vahak will not charge:
Any transaction processing fees or commissions charged by Grandha Vahak's authorized payment partners shall be borne by Grandha Vahak and will not be passed on to the Member, unless otherwise required by applicable law or explicitly communicated prior to the transaction.
Members shall pay only the amount displayed and confirmed at the time of payment, together with any applicable taxes or charges that are clearly disclosed before completing the transaction.
Members play an important role in maintaining the quality and sustainability of the Grandha Vahak reading ecosystem. By using the Services, Members agree to responsibly handle all borrowed books and comply with this Agreement and all applicable Grandha Vahak policies.
Members shall exercise reasonable care while books are in their possession and shall protect them from loss, theft, damage, excessive wear, moisture, stains, markings, or any other condition that may affect their usability.
Members shall not write, underline, highlight, fold pages, remove labels, or otherwise alter any borrowed book.
Books borrowed through a Membership are intended solely for the registered Member or the authorized user under the applicable Membership Plan.
Members shall not sell, rent, pledge, commercially use, or lend borrowed books to any third party without the prior written consent of Grandha Vahak.
Members are responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date contact information, including their name, delivery address, email address, and mobile number.
Grandha Vahak shall not be responsible for delays, failed deliveries, or service interruptions resulting from inaccurate or outdated information provided by the Member.
Members agree to comply with this Membership Agreement, the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Shipping & Delivery Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, Book Borrowing Policy, and all other policies published by Grandha Vahak from time to time.
Failure to comply may result in suspension or termination of Membership and/or other actions as permitted under this Agreement.
Where a Grandha Vahak Return Cover is provided with the shipment, Members shall use the same cover (or another suitable protective packaging approved by Grandha Vahak) when returning borrowed books.
If the original Return Cover is not used or the returned packaging does not provide adequate protection resulting in additional handling or replacement costs, Grandha Vahak may levy a Return Cover Replacement Charge, which will be adjusted against the Member's Caution Deposit in accordance with the applicable fee schedule.
As of the Effective Date of this Agreement, the Return Cover Replacement Charge is ₹5. Grandha Vahak reserves the right to revise this amount from time to time, and any updated charges will be published on the official Grandha Vahak Platform.
Grandha Vahak is committed to maintaining a safe, fair, and responsible reading ecosystem for all Members. Accordingly, Grandha Vahak reserves the right to suspend or terminate a Membership, temporarily or permanently, where it reasonably believes that a Member has violated this Agreement, applicable laws, or any published Grandha Vahak policies.
Grandha Vahak may temporarily suspend a Membership, with or without prior notice where permitted by law, under circumstances including, but not limited to:
During the suspension period, Grandha Vahak may restrict or disable access to some or all Membership benefits, including the ability to borrow books, place requests, renew Memberships, or access certain Platform features.
Grandha Vahak may permanently terminate a Membership where:
Upon suspension or termination:
A Member whose Membership has been suspended or terminated may submit a request for review through the Grandha Vahak Support Center.
Grandha Vahak may, at its sole discretion, review the circumstances and determine whether the suspension or termination should be modified, lifted, or upheld. The decision of Grandha Vahak shall be final, subject to applicable law.
Members may cancel their Membership in accordance with the Grandha Vahak Refund & Cancellation Policy, which forms an integral part of this Agreement.
A Membership may be cancelled by the Member only after the completion of the minimum eligibility period specified under the applicable Membership Plan or as otherwise provided in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
The Subscription Fee paid towards the Membership is non-refundable once the Membership has been activated, except where otherwise required by applicable law or expressly approved by Grandha Vahak.
Where a Membership includes a Refundable Caution Deposit, the remaining balance of the Caution Deposit, after adjustment of any applicable overdue charges, penalties, replacement costs, damages, outstanding dues, or other lawful deductions, shall be refunded in accordance with the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Refunds, where applicable, shall normally be processed within the timelines specified in the Refund & Cancellation Policy, subject to successful verification of the Member's account and fulfillment of all Membership obligations.
Grandha Vahak reserves the right to reject or defer any refund request where there are outstanding obligations, ongoing investigations, suspected fraudulent activity, or any other lawful reason requiring further verification.
For complete information regarding eligibility, cancellation procedures, refund timelines, payment methods, deductions, and exceptional circumstances, Members should refer to the Grandha Vahak Refund & Cancellation Policy, which shall prevail in the event of any inconsistency relating to refund or cancellation matters.
Grandha Vahak is committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality, and security of Members' personal information in accordance with applicable laws and industry best practices.
By registering for a Membership or using the Grandha Vahak Services, Members acknowledge and agree that Grandha Vahak may collect, use, store, process, disclose, and protect personal information as described in the Grandha Vahak Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of this Agreement.
Members are responsible for providing accurate and up-to-date personal information and for promptly notifying Grandha Vahak of any changes to their account details.
Grandha Vahak implements reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to safeguard personal information. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and Members acknowledge the inherent risks associated with the use of internet-based services.
Members are encouraged to review the Grandha Vahak Privacy Policy periodically to understand how their personal information is collected, processed, stored, shared, retained, and protected, as well as the rights available to them under applicable law.
In the event of any inconsistency between this Agreement and the Grandha Vahak Privacy Policy with respect to the processing of personal information, the provisions of the Privacy Policy shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
Grandha Vahak is committed to providing reliable, efficient, and high-quality Services. However, certain circumstances may arise that are beyond our reasonable control. By becoming a Member, you acknowledge and agree to the following limitations of liability.
While Grandha Vahak makes every reasonable effort to ensure uninterrupted access to its Platform and Services, we do not guarantee continuous availability or that all Services will be free from interruptions, delays, technical errors, or temporary unavailability.
Delivery and collection of books are carried out through Grandha Vahak and/or authorized logistics partners.

Grandha Vahak shall not be liable for reasonable delays caused by such circumstances.
Book availability is subject to inventory, prior reservations, maintenance, replacement, or operational requirements.
Grandha Vahak does not guarantee the immediate availability of any specific title and reserves the right to provide alternative recommendations or place Members on a waiting list where applicable.
Grandha Vahak shall not be liable for any delay, interruption, suspension, or failure to perform its obligations where such failure results from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:
During such events, Grandha Vahak may temporarily suspend or modify its Services without incurring liability.

Grandha Vahak shall not be liable for any loss resulting from a Member's failure to fulfill these responsibilities.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Grandha Vahak, its directors, officers, employees, partners, affiliates, logistics providers, and service providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, business opportunities, goodwill, data, or anticipated savings arising out of or in connection with the use of the Services.
Nothing in this Agreement shall exclude or limit any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to any conflict of law principles.
The Parties shall make every reasonable effort to resolve any dispute, claim, or disagreement arising out of or relating to this Agreement through good-faith discussions and mutual consultation.
If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably within a reasonable period, either Party may seek appropriate legal remedies in accordance with applicable law.
Subject to the foregoing, the courts and tribunals located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, shall have the exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, claim, or legal proceeding arising out of or relating to this Agreement, the Grandha Vahak Platform, or the Services provided by Grandha Vahak.
Nothing in this Agreement shall prevent Grandha Vahak from seeking interim, injunctive, or equitable relief before any court or authority having competent jurisdiction where such relief is necessary to protect its rights, property, intellectual property, confidential information, or business interests.

The above plans may be revised by Grandha Vahak from time to time. Updated plans will be published on the official Grandha Vahak Platform.
By registering for a Grandha Vahak Membership, the Member acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this Membership Agreement and all applicable Grandha Vahak policies, including the Terms & Conditions, Privacy Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, and Shipping & Delivery Policy.
The Member further agrees to use the Grandha Vahak Services responsibly and in accordance with all applicable laws and the rules governing the Grandha Vahak reading ecosystem.
