1. Introduction

Welcome to Grandha Vahak. This Book Borrowing Policy ("Policy") sets out the terms and conditions governing the borrowing, delivery, possession, use, return, recovery, and management of physical books borrowed through the Grandha Vahak Platform.

The purpose of this Policy is to establish a fair, transparent, and consistent framework for all Members while ensuring the protection of library resources and the efficient operation of Grandha Vahak's nationwide book borrowing services.

This Policy applies to all books borrowed through the official Grandha Vahak platforms, including Individual, Institutional, Community, and Organization (CSR) Memberships. Every Member is responsible for complying with the requirements set forth in this Policy throughout the entire borrowing lifecycle, from the submission of a borrowing request until the successful return and verification of the borrowed book.

By borrowing a book through the Grandha Vahak Platform, the Member acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with this Book Borrowing Policy.

1.1 Relationship with Other Policies

This Book Borrowing Policy forms an integral part of, and should be read together with, the following Grandha Vahak legal documents:

In the event of any inconsistency between this Policy and another Grandha Vahak policy regarding the borrowing, return, recovery, or management of books, the provisions of this Book Borrowing Policy shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to amend, update, or revise this Policy from time to time in accordance with its operational, legal, or business requirements. Continued use of the Grandha Vahak Platform or continued borrowing of books after such revisions constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy, unless applicable law requires a different form of consent.

2. Scope & Applicability

This Book Borrowing Policy applies to all physical books borrowed, delivered, returned, or otherwise managed through the Grandha Vahak Platform. It governs the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of Members throughout the entire borrowing lifecycle, from the submission of a borrowing request until the successful return and verification of the borrowed book.

This Policy applies irrespective of the Subscription Plan selected by the Member and shall be binding upon all eligible Members using the Grandha Vahak Services.

2.1 Applicable Members

This Policy applies to all categories of Members, including:

Every Member is responsible for reading, understanding, and complying with this Book Borrowing Policy. By requesting, receiving, possessing, or returning a borrowed book through the Grandha Vahak Platform, the Member agrees to be bound by this Policy and all other applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

Failure to comply with this Policy may result in the application of applicable charges, suspension of borrowing privileges, deduction from the Refundable Caution Deposit, cancellation of Membership, or any other action permitted under the Membership Agreement, Subscription Terms, or applicable law.

3. Eligibility for Borrowing

To maintain a fair, secure, and efficient borrowing system, Members must satisfy the eligibility requirements set out in this Policy before requesting or borrowing any book through the Grandha Vahak Platform.

Borrowing privileges are available only to Members who continue to meet these eligibility requirements throughout their Membership period. Grandha Vahak reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time before approving or processing a borrowing request.

3.1 Eligibility Requirements

3.4 Grandha Vahak's Right to Refuse a Borrowing Request

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to refuse, delay, or cancel any borrowing request where:

Any refusal or cancellation of a borrowing request under this section shall not, by itself, entitle the Member to any refund, compensation, or damages, except where required by applicable law.

4. Borrowing Limits

Grandha Vahak assigns borrowing limits based on the Member's selected Subscription Plan. These limits are designed to ensure fair access to books, maintain efficient inventory management, and provide a consistent borrowing experience for all Members.

Members may borrow only the number of books permitted under their active Subscription Plan. Borrowing limits apply at all times and remain subject to the Member maintaining an active Membership and complying with all applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

4.1 Borrowing Limits by Subscription Plan

The maximum number of books that may be borrowed simultaneously, together with the applicable borrowing period, is specified in Schedule A – Borrowing Limits, which forms an integral part of this Book Borrowing Policy.

4.2 Maximum Borrowing Capacity

A Member shall not exceed the maximum number of books permitted under their active Subscription Plan.

Once the borrowing limit has been reached, the Member must successfully return one or more borrowed books before becoming eligible to borrow additional books, unless the Member upgrades to a Subscription Plan with a higher borrowing limit.

4.3 Borrowing Period

Each borrowed book shall have a borrowing period based on the Member's Subscription Plan, as specified in Schedule A.

The borrowing period begins on the date the book is successfully delivered to the Member and ends on the applicable due date communicated by Grandha Vahak.

Members are responsible for ensuring that all borrowed books are returned on or before the applicable due date.

4.4 No Extension of Borrowing Limits

Borrowing limits cannot be increased temporarily except through an approved upgrade to an eligible Subscription Plan.

Similarly, the borrowing period for a book cannot be extended beyond the period specified under the applicable Subscription Plan.

Grandha Vahak operates a No Extension Policy and a No Grace Period Policy. Members are expected to return all borrowed books within the applicable borrowing period.

4.5 Changes to Borrowing Limits

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to revise borrowing limits, borrowing periods, or other borrowing-related benefits for future Subscription Plans in accordance with the Subscription Terms.

Unless otherwise required by applicable law, such changes shall apply prospectively and shall not affect active Subscriptions during their current validity period.

Members may refer to the latest version of Schedule A – Borrowing Limits for the borrowing limits applicable to their Subscription Plan.

5. Book Availability

Grandha Vahak strives to provide Members with access to a diverse and continuously expanding collection of books. However, the availability of books is dynamic and depends on various operational factors. All borrowing requests are subject to verification and the availability of the requested book at the time the request is processed.

Submission of a borrowing request or possession of an active Subscription does not guarantee that a particular book will be immediately available for borrowing.

5.1 Availability of Books

The availability of a requested book is subject to, including but not limited to:

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to approve, defer, or decline any borrowing request based on these factors.

5.2 Inventory Availability

Books are available only while copies remain in the active Grandha Vahak inventory.

Certain books may be temporarily unavailable due to:

5.3 Existing Reservations

Where a requested book has already been reserved or borrowed by another eligible Member, Grandha Vahak may place the requesting Member on a waiting list or notify the Member when the book becomes available, where such functionality is offered.

Priority of allocation shall be determined by Grandha Vahak's reservation and inventory management procedures.

5.4 Logistics Availability

Book dispatch and delivery are subject to the availability of Grandha Vahak's authorized logistics partners and serviceable delivery locations.

Factors that may affect logistics availability include:

5.5 Operational Requirements

Grandha Vahak may temporarily restrict, postpone, or suspend the availability of certain books or borrowing services due to operational requirements, including:

5.6 No Guarantee of Availability

An active Membership or Subscription entitles a Member to request eligible books in accordance with their Subscription Plan; however, it does not guarantee:

Grandha Vahak may, where feasible, suggest alternative editions, similar titles, or comparable publications when the requested book is unavailable.

5.7 Grandha Vahak's Rights

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to:

6. Borrowing Request

Grandha Vahak enables eligible Members to conveniently borrow physical books through its online platform. Every borrowing request is processed in accordance with the Member's Subscription Plan, applicable borrowing limits, inventory availability, and operational procedures.

Submitting a borrowing request does not create an immediate right to receive the requested book. All requests remain subject to verification, approval, inventory availability, logistics feasibility, and compliance with this Book Borrowing Policy.

6.1 Browsing the Catalogue

Members may browse the Grandha Vahak catalogue to explore books available for borrowing.

The catalogue may be searched using various criteria, including:

The catalogue is updated periodically; however, the display of a book does not necessarily indicate that it is currently available for borrowing.

6.2 Selecting Books

Eligible Members may select books that are available for borrowing, subject to:

6.3 Submitting a Borrowing Request

Once a book has been selected, the Member may submit a borrowing request through the Grandha Vahak Platform.

By submitting a borrowing request, the Member confirms that:

6.4 Verification and Approval

After a borrowing request is submitted, Grandha Vahak may verify:

6.5 Order Confirmation

If the borrowing request is approved, Grandha Vahak will confirm the request through the Member's account and may also notify the Member via email, WhatsApp, SMS, or other official communication channels.

The confirmation will generally include:

6.6 Delivery Tracking

Once the requested book has been dispatched, Members may track the delivery status through the Grandha Vahak Platform or other tracking facilities made available by Grandha Vahak or its authorized logistics partners.

Tracking information is provided for convenience and may be updated periodically based on information received from the logistics partner.

6.7 Grandha Vahak's Right to Refuse or Cancel a Request

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel any borrowing request at any stage before delivery where:

Nothing in this section shall be interpreted as guaranteeing the approval or fulfillment of every borrowing request submitted through the Grandha Vahak Platform. All requests remain subject to verification, availability, and operational feasibility.

7. Order Processing

Every borrowing request submitted through the Grandha Vahak Platform undergoes a verification and processing procedure before a book is approved for dispatch. This process helps ensure that borrowing requests are fulfilled accurately, securely, and in accordance with the Member's Subscription Plan and applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

Submission of a borrowing request does not guarantee immediate dispatch. All requests are processed subject to successful verification, inventory availability, logistics feasibility, and operational requirements.

7.1 Verification Process

Before a borrowing request is approved, Grandha Vahak may verify, including but not limited to:

7.2 Order Approval

A borrowing request will be approved only after Grandha Vahak confirms that all applicable eligibility and operational requirements have been satisfied.

Approval of a request authorizes the preparation of the book for dispatch but does not guarantee delivery within any specific timeframe.

7.3 Packaging

Once approved, the requested book shall be prepared for dispatch using Grandha Vahak's standard packaging procedures.

Books are packaged with reasonable care to help protect them during transportation. Packaging may include:

7.4 Dispatch

Following successful packaging, the borrowing order shall be handed over to Grandha Vahak's authorized logistics partner for delivery to the Member's registered address.

7.5 Processing Delays

While Grandha Vahak endeavors to process borrowing requests promptly, processing may be delayed due to circumstances including, but not limited to:

7.6 Grandha Vahak's Right to Cancel Processing

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to suspend, delay, or cancel the processing of any borrowing request before dispatch where:

Where a borrowing request is cancelled prior to dispatch, the Member will be notified through the registered communication channels, where reasonably practicable.

Nothing in this section shall be construed as guaranteeing immediate processing or dispatch of every borrowing request. All requests remain subject to verification, operational feasibility, inventory availability, and compliance with applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

8. Shipping & Delivery

The shipment and delivery of borrowed books are governed by the Grandha Vahak Shipping & Delivery Policy, which forms an integral part of this Book Borrowing Policy. Members are encouraged to read the Shipping & Delivery Policy together with this Policy to understand the procedures, timelines, and responsibilities relating to the delivery and return of borrowed books.

Grandha Vahak strives to deliver borrowed books safely and efficiently through its authorized logistics partners. While delivery timelines are estimated based on the destination and operational conditions, actual delivery may vary depending on logistics availability, weather conditions, public holidays, transportation disruptions, or other circumstances beyond Grandha Vahak's reasonable control.

8.1 Delivery Address

Members are solely responsible for ensuring that the delivery address provided during the borrowing request is:

Grandha Vahak shall not be responsible for delays, failed deliveries, or additional costs arising from incorrect, incomplete, outdated, or inaccessible delivery addresses provided by the Member.

8.2 Delivery Confirmation

A borrowed book shall be deemed delivered once it has been successfully handed over to the Member or to an authorized recipient at the registered delivery address, as confirmed by the authorized logistics partner.

8.4 Failed Delivery Attempts

If delivery cannot be completed due to reasons attributable to the Member, including but not limited to:

Grandha Vahak remains responsible for the borrowed book until it is successfully delivered to the registered delivery address.

After successful delivery, responsibility for the borrowed book transfers to the Member, who shall remain responsible for its safekeeping until it is returned and accepted by Grandha Vahak through the authorized return process.

8.6 Reference to Shipping & Delivery Policy

All matters relating to:

shall be governed by the Grandha Vahak Shipping & Delivery Policy, as amended from time to time. In the event of any inconsistency relating specifically to shipping or logistics, the provisions of the Shipping & Delivery Policy shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.

9. Borrowing Period

The borrowing period specifies the maximum duration for which a Member may retain a borrowed book before it must be returned to Grandha Vahak. The borrowing period is determined by the Member's active Subscription Plan and begins only upon the successful delivery of the borrowed book.

Members are responsible for monitoring the applicable due date and ensuring that every borrowed book is returned on or before the expiry of the borrowing period.

9.1 Commencement of the Borrowing Period

The borrowing period shall commence on the date the borrowed book is successfully delivered to the Member or an authorized recipient at the registered delivery address.

The delivery date shall be treated as Day One (1) of the borrowing period, irrespective of the time of delivery.

9.2 Borrowing Period by Subscription Plan

The applicable borrowing period depends on the Member's active Subscription Plan and is specified in Schedule A – Borrowing Limits, which forms an integral part of this Policy.

Members must return each borrowed book on or before the applicable due date communicated by Grandha Vahak.

9.3 Return Reminders

As a courtesy, Grandha Vahak will remind Members about upcoming due dates through the registered communication channels.

The reminder schedule is as follows:

These reminders are provided solely as a convenience. Failure to receive, read, or respond to a reminder shall not extend the borrowing period or relieve the Member of the obligation to return the book on time.

9.4 No Extension Policy

Grandha Vahak operates a strict No Extension Policy.

The borrowing period applicable to a borrowed book cannot be extended after dispatch or delivery. Members are required to return every borrowed book within the borrowing period applicable to their Subscription Plan.

No extension requests shall be accepted, except where required by applicable law or expressly approved by Grandha Vahak in writing under exceptional circumstances.

9.5 No Grace Period Policy

Grandha Vahak operates a strict No Grace Period Policy.

The due date communicated to the Member is final and binding. Once the applicable borrowing period expires, the book shall immediately be treated as overdue, and the applicable late return charges and recovery procedures set out in this Policy shall apply.

The 48-hour recovery period described in this Policy is not an extension of the borrowing period and does not constitute a grace period. It is provided solely to facilitate the prompt recovery of overdue books after applicable charges have already been imposed.

9.6 Member Responsibility

Members are solely responsible for:

10. Return Process

Members are responsible for returning all borrowed books on or before the applicable due date in accordance with this Book Borrowing Policy. Grandha Vahak has established a standardized return process to ensure the safe recovery of books, efficient reverse logistics, and continued availability of library resources for other Members.

The return process must be completed using the official Grandha Vahak procedures. Failure to follow the prescribed return process may result in delays, additional charges, or deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit, where applicable.

10.1 Initiating a Return Request

Before the applicable due date, the Member shall submit a Return Request through the Grandha Vahak Platform.

Upon successful submission of the request, Grandha Vahak will initiate the reverse pickup process through its authorized logistics partner, subject to operational availability.

Members are encouraged to submit their Return Request sufficiently in advance of the due date to facilitate timely pickup.

10.2 Preparing the Book for Return

Before the scheduled pickup, the Member shall ensure that the borrowed book:

The Member shall take reasonable care to ensure that the book is returned in substantially the same condition in which it was received, subject to normal wear resulting from ordinary reading.

10.3 Use of the Grandha Vahak Return Cover

Every borrowed book shall be returned using the official Grandha Vahak Return Cover provided with the shipment or otherwise made available by Grandha Vahak.

Members shall ensure that:

Failure to use the official Grandha Vahak Return Cover may result in a ₹5 deduction from the Member's Refundable Caution Deposit, in addition to any applicable charges for damage caused during return transit.

10.4 Handover to the Authorized Pickup Partner

The packaged book shall be handed over only to the authorized logistics or pickup partner designated by Grandha Vahak.

Members should, where available:

Books should not be handed over to any unauthorized person or courier unless expressly approved by Grandha Vahak.

10.5 Responsibility Until Collection

The borrowed book shall remain the sole responsibility of the Member until it has been successfully collected by the authorized pickup partner and the collection has been recorded in the Grandha Vahak system.

If the book is lost, damaged, misplaced, or becomes unavailable before successful collection, the Member shall remain responsible for the book and any applicable charges under this Policy.

10.6 Return Verification

After the returned book reaches the designated Grandha Vahak facility, it may undergo verification to confirm:

Where damage, missing pages, excessive wear beyond normal use, or other policy violations are identified, Grandha Vahak may apply the applicable deductions or recovery charges in accordance with this Policy and the Membership Agreement.

10.7 Failure to Complete the Return Process

Submitting a Return Request alone does not constitute the successful return of a borrowed book.

A return shall be considered complete only when:

Until the return process is completed, the Member remains responsible for complying with all obligations under this Book Borrowing Policy, including any applicable late return charges, recovery procedures, or deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit.

11. Return Packaging

Proper packaging of borrowed books is essential to protect library materials during reverse transportation and to ensure that books are returned in good condition for future Members. Members are responsible for packaging every borrowed book in accordance with the requirements set out in this Policy before handing it over to the authorized pickup partner.

Failure to comply with the prescribed packaging requirements may result in applicable deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit or other recovery charges where damage occurs due to improper packaging.

11.1 Packaging Requirements

Before handing over a borrowed book for return, the Member shall ensure that the book:

Every borrowed book must be returned using the official Grandha Vahak Return Cover provided with the shipment or otherwise supplied by Grandha Vahak.

The Return Cover is specifically designed to:

Members shall ensure that the Return Cover is properly sealed and ready before the scheduled pickup.

11.3 Condition of Returned Books

Members are expected to exercise reasonable care while using borrowed books.

Books should be returned free from damage caused by misuse, including but not limited to:

Where such damage is identified during return verification, Grandha Vahak may recover the applicable repair or replacement costs in accordance with this Policy and the Membership Agreement.

11.4 Failure to Use the Return Cover

Members who fail to return a borrowed book using the official Grandha Vahak Return Cover shall incur a ₹5 packaging non-compliance charge, which shall be deducted from the Member's Refundable Caution Deposit.

This deduction applies irrespective of whether the book is otherwise returned in good condition and is intended to cover the additional handling and packaging costs incurred by Grandha Vahak.

Where improper packaging results in damage to the borrowed book during return transit, Grandha Vahak may additionally recover the applicable repair or replacement costs in accordance with this Policy.

11.5 Responsibility Until Collection

The Member remains responsible for the proper packaging and safekeeping of the borrowed book until it has been successfully collected by the authorized logistics partner designated by Grandha Vahak.

Improper packaging that contributes to loss or damage before or during collection may result in additional deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit or other recovery charges as permitted under the applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

This section should be read together with Section 10 (Return Process), Section 14 (Book Recovery Process), and Schedule C – Book Condition Guidelines of this Book Borrowing Policy.

12. Return Reminders

To assist Members in returning borrowed books on time, Grandha Vahak may send reminder notifications through the Member's registered communication channels before the applicable due date. These reminders are intended solely as a courtesy and do not modify the Member's obligations under this Book Borrowing Policy.

Members are responsible for ensuring that their registered email address, mobile number, and other contact information remain accurate and up to date to receive such notifications.

12.1 Reminder Schedule

Subject to operational availability, Grandha Vahak may issue the following reminders:

12.2 Courtesy Notifications

All reminders and notifications are provided solely as a convenience to assist Members in complying with the applicable borrowing period.

12.3 Failure to Receive Notifications

Grandha Vahak shall not be responsible for a Member's failure to receive or read reminder notifications due to circumstances including, but not limited to:

It is the Member's responsibility to:

Members should not rely solely on reminder notifications and are expected to independently manage their borrowing obligations in accordance with this Book Borrowing Policy.

This section should be read together with Section 9 (Borrowing Period), Section 13 (Late Returns), and Section 14 (Book Recovery Process) of this Book Borrowing Policy.

13. Late Returns

Grandha Vahak expects all Members to return borrowed books on or before the applicable due date specified under their Subscription Plan. Timely returns ensure that books remain available for other Members and support the efficient operation of the Grandha Vahak library network.

Failure to return a borrowed book by the applicable due date shall constitute a Late Return and shall result in the immediate application of the procedures and charges set out in this Policy.

13.1 Late Return

A borrowed book shall be deemed overdue immediately upon the expiry of the applicable borrowing period.

The borrowing period applicable to each book is determined by the Member's active Subscription Plan as specified in Schedule A – Borrowing Limits.

13.2 Immediate Late Return Charge

If a borrowed book is not successfully returned on or before the applicable due date:

The late return charge is intended to encourage the timely return of library materials and to support the continued availability of books for all Members.

13.3 No Extension Policy

Grandha Vahak operates a strict No Extension Policy.

Members shall not be entitled to extend the borrowing period after a book has been delivered.

The application of a Late Return Charge does not relieve the Member of the obligation to return the borrowed book.

Until the book is successfully returned and accepted by Grandha Vahak, the Member shall remain responsible for:

Failure to receive reminders, personal circumstances, travel, courier delays attributable to the Member, or any other avoidable reason shall not exempt the Member from the Late Return Charge or the obligations set out in this Policy, except where otherwise required by applicable law.

This section should be read together with Section 9 (Borrowing Period), Section 12 (Return Reminders), Section 14 (Book Recovery Process), and Schedule A – Borrowing Limits of this Book Borrowing Policy.

14. Book Recovery Process

Grandha Vahak is committed to maintaining the availability of its library collection for all Members. Where a borrowed book is not returned on or before the applicable due date, Grandha Vahak shall initiate its Book Recovery Process to facilitate the prompt return of the book and protect library resources.

The recovery process is intended to encourage compliance with this Policy and does not waive any charges, penalties, or obligations applicable to the Member.

14.1 Stage 1 – Advance Reminder

As a courtesy, Grandha Vahak will issue advance reminders before the borrowing period expires.

Five (5) calendar days before the due date, the Member will receive:

These reminders are intended to assist the Member in arranging the timely return of the borrowed book. Failure to receive these reminders shall not affect the Member's obligation to return the book on time.

14.2 Stage 2 – Due Date

The due date communicated by Grandha Vahak is final and binding.

If the borrowed book is not successfully returned by the applicable due date:

No extension or grace period shall be available.

14.3 Stage 3 – 48-Hour Recovery Period

Following the expiry of the borrowing period, Grandha Vahak provides a 48-hour Recovery Period solely to facilitate the physical return of the overdue book.

For the avoidance of doubt:

Members are expected to cooperate fully and ensure that the borrowed book is made available for return without delay.

14.4 Stage 4 – Personal Contact

If the borrowed book remains unreturned after the 48-hour Recovery Period, Grandha Vahak may attempt to contact the Member through one or more of the registered communication channels, including:

During this stage, the Member will be requested to arrange the immediate return of the borrowed book.

Grandha Vahak may make reasonable follow-up attempts where operationally necessary.

14.5 Stage 5 – Deposit Hold and Recovery

If the Member continues to retain the borrowed book after the recovery efforts described above, Grandha Vahak may take one or more of the following actions:

The deduction of any Late Return Charge, recovery amount, replacement cost, or other applicable charges does not transfer ownership of the borrowed book to the Member.

All books borrowed through the Grandha Vahak Platform remain the property of Grandha Vahak or its affiliated library partners unless expressly transferred in writing.

The Member remains obligated to return the borrowed book whenever requested by Grandha Vahak, even if recovery charges or deductions have already been applied.

This section should be read together with Section 12 (Return Reminders), Section 13 (Late Returns), Section 15 (Lost & Damaged Books), the Membership Agreement, and the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

15. Lost & Damaged Books

Members are responsible for exercising reasonable care while a borrowed book remains in their possession. Every borrowed book remains the property of Grandha Vahak or its affiliated library partners and must be returned in substantially the same condition in which it was delivered, subject only to normal wear resulting from ordinary reading.

If a borrowed book is lost, damaged, destroyed, or becomes unusable while in the Member's possession, the Member shall promptly notify Grandha Vahak and cooperate in the recovery or replacement process.

15.1 Reporting Lost or Damaged Books

Members shall immediately report any of the following through the Grandha Vahak Support Ticket System (preferred) or the official support email:

Prompt reporting enables Grandha Vahak to initiate the appropriate recovery or replacement procedures and minimize disruption to other Members.

15.2 Member Responsibility

The Member shall remain fully responsible for every borrowed book until it has been successfully returned, verified, and accepted by Grandha Vahak.

Where a borrowed book is lost or damaged while in the Member's possession, the Member shall be responsible for:

15.5 Misuse or Intentional Damage

Where Grandha Vahak reasonably believes that a book has been intentionally damaged, altered, concealed, destroyed, misappropriated, or retained unlawfully, Grandha Vahak reserves the right to:

16. Member Responsibilities

Members play an essential role in protecting the integrity of the Grandha Vahak library collection. Every Member is expected to exercise reasonable care while borrowing books and to comply with all applicable Grandha Vahak policies throughout the borrowing period.

Failure to fulfil these responsibilities may result in late return charges, deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit, suspension of borrowing privileges, termination of Membership, or other actions permitted under the Membership Agreement and applicable law.

16.1 Care of Borrowed Books

Members shall exercise reasonable care while the borrowed book remains in their possession.

17. Prohibited Activities

To protect the integrity of the Grandha Vahak library collection, ensure fair access for all Members, and safeguard the Platform and its services, Members shall not engage in any activity that violates this Book Borrowing Policy, the Membership Agreement, applicable Grandha Vahak policies, or the laws of the Republic of India.

Any prohibited activity may result in the suspension or termination of Membership, recovery of losses, deductions from the Refundable Caution Deposit, and/or legal action where permitted by applicable law.

Membership benefits may only be exercised by the registered Member and shall not be transferred, shared, sublicensed, or otherwise made available to any third party without the prior written consent of Grandha Vahak.

18. Suspension of Borrowing Privileges

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to temporarily suspend a Member's borrowing privileges where such action is necessary to protect library resources, ensure compliance with applicable policies, maintain the integrity of the Grandha Vahak Platform, or safeguard the interests of other Members.

Suspension of borrowing privileges does not automatically terminate the Member's Membership or Subscription unless expressly notified by Grandha Vahak. During the period of suspension, the Member may be restricted from borrowing additional books or accessing certain borrowing-related services until the identified issues have been satisfactorily resolved.

18.1 Grounds for Suspension

19. Limitation of Borrowing Services

Grandha Vahak is committed to providing reliable and efficient book borrowing services to its Members. However, the availability and delivery of borrowing services depend on various operational, logistical, technical, and external factors that may be beyond the reasonable control of Grandha Vahak.

Accordingly, while Grandha Vahak endeavors to fulfill every eligible borrowing request, it does not guarantee uninterrupted or unrestricted access to all books or services at all times.

19.1 No Guarantee of Availability

An active Membership or Subscription entitles a Member to request eligible books in accordance with their Subscription Plan. However, Grandha Vahak does not guarantee:

Books may become unavailable due to borrowing demand, reservations, maintenance, replacement, inventory updates, or other operational reasons.

19.2 No Guarantee of Dispatch or Delivery Timelines

Grandha Vahak strives to process and dispatch borrowing requests promptly. However, Grandha Vahak does not guarantee:

Delivery timelines are estimates only and may vary depending on factors such as inventory availability, service location, logistics partner performance, weather conditions, public holidays, transportation disruptions, governmental restrictions, or other circumstances beyond Grandha Vahak's reasonable control.

19.3 Operational Limitations

Borrowing services remain subject to:

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to postpone, suspend, limit, or decline borrowing requests where reasonably necessary to maintain service quality, operational efficiency, or legal compliance.

19.4 Service Interruptions

From time to time, borrowing services may be temporarily affected by:

20. Changes to this Book Borrowing Policy

Grandha Vahak reserves the right to revise, amend, update, or replace this Book Borrowing Policy at any time to reflect changes in applicable laws, regulatory requirements, business operations, technology, logistics, security practices, or the services offered through the Grandha Vahak Platform.

Unless otherwise required by law or operational necessity, any revisions to this Policy shall apply prospectively and shall not affect borrowing transactions that are already active at the time the revised Policy becomes effective.

Where reasonably practicable, Grandha Vahak may notify Members of material changes through the Grandha Vahak Platform, Email, WhatsApp, or other official communication channels. Members are encouraged to review this Policy periodically to remain informed of the latest version.

Continued use of the Grandha Vahak Platform or continued participation in the book borrowing service after the Effective Date of a revised Policy shall constitute acceptance of the updated Policy, unless applicable law requires a different form of consent. Where a Member does not agree with the revised Policy, the Member may discontinue using the borrowing service and may cancel their Membership in accordance with the applicable Grandha Vahak policies.

21. Governing Law

This Book Borrowing Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any dispute, claim, controversy, or legal proceeding arising out of or relating to this Book Borrowing Policy, the borrowing of books, the use of the Grandha Vahak Platform, or any related services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts and tribunals located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, including the High Court of Judicature at Madras, where applicable.

The parties agree to submit exclusively to the jurisdiction of such courts and tribunals for the resolution of all disputes arising under or in connection with this Policy.
